Who we are

The Club

A development basketball club from El Clot, Barcelona, since 1965. Everything that defines the club is here: its history, who runs it, women's basketball, where it stands among the big Catalan clubs, and its awards.

Our motto: a Culture of Progress

We do not teach through sacrifice: we teach through progress. Effort matters, but it does not explain the result on its own — learning, rest, support, opportunity and adaptation matter too. It is all of it together that moves each player forward, from their own starting line, not just on the scoreboard.

That is why Barna is at once a development club (the path from the Escoleta to the senior team, unbroken at every age group), competitive club (the demands are real: two senior teams in the Supercopa, 34+ teams) and club of progress (what holds the other two together). These are not three labels pulling apart: they are the same idea seen from three angles. Read the full explanation →

Institutional recognition

A neighbourhood club with sixty-one years of history and more than 34 federated teams does not go unnoticed by the institutions around Catalan sport. Over the past few months, Barna has received three visits in El Clot that confirm it:

  • Bernat Álvarez, Sports Minister of the Generalitat de Catalunya, in a meeting with the club. See on Instagram →
  • The Mayor of Barcelona, visiting CB Grup Barna. See on Instagram →
  • David Escudé and the Vice-President of the Catalan Basketball Federation, at one of the club's team presentations. See on Instagram →

On top of that come partnership agreements with the Federació d'Entitats Clot-Camp de l'Arpa, Eix del Clot, Eix Sant Martí and the Sant Martí district council, and the club's presence in six neighbourhood schools. None of this replaces what the club is at heart —development, competition and community—, but it is the sign that the institutions who know Barcelona's grassroots sport best are already counting on it.

Our motto

A Culture of Progress

Effort, learning, rest, support, opportunity and adaptation: that is how we understand progress — not as sacrifice alone.

Frequently asked questions

How can I coach or volunteer at CB Grup Barna?

The club has 38 active female coaches — 65.5% of the coaching staff — and many are former players who came up through the club, so going from playing to coaching is a well-trodden path. What is CB Grup Barna's motto?

The Culture of Progress. We do not teach through sacrifice: we teach through progress. Effort matters, but it does not explain the result on its own — learning, rest, support, opportunities and adaptation all count too.
